We are thrilled to announce the latest development at Diamond, the procurement of a brand new Network Partner. This is an exciting time for us as we continue to grow and expand our reach to better serve our customers. Our new Network Partner is located in the large market town of Dudley. With this expansion into the West Midlands, we are able to increase our capacity and provide customers in this area with our same day, next day and international delivery services. We spoke with Vish and his team to chat about the new partnership, their goals and their experience within the fulfilment and delivery industry.
Can you tell us about you and your team?
I run the business with the support of the Operations Supervisor Bob. We’ve been working together for a few years now and have both been in the logistics and fulfilment industry for over 20 years. We both have experience of working for major carriers in the UK. I knew the business would benefit greatly by adding Bobs skills and experience and wanted to bring him on board. We have several Warehouse Operatives and are currently in the process of training and upskilling them to become cross functional team members along with adding to our sales team.
What is your experience working in the logistics industry?
I started working in the industry in 1999 as a Mail Sorter and progressed into leadership roles. A few years ago, I decided the time was right to venture out on my own and decided to set my business up.
What advice would you give to a new client about outsourced logistics and what to expect?
They should partner with an organisation that fully understands their values, vision and how their customer journey to looks like. You want your logistics partner to be an extension of your brand. Your partner should fully understand you as a company and your customer promise.
What do you love about your job?
I just love logistics and the problem solving it involves, one of the best things about it is leading my team co-creating solutions. I really encourage everyone to get involved and if you take this approach the people doing the tasks own it a lot more and have a part to play in the growth of the company.
I thrive on having the responsibility to deliver the best possible service to our customers and leading my team through all the day to day to challenges that come about whilst working in this sector. I enjoy setting targets for myself, my team and my overall business that really push us to be the best we possibly can be.
How did you connect with Diamond Logistics?
I initially looked at Diamond in 2015 and spoke with Dan and Kate but I was just settled into my employed role and decided to concentrate on that for the time being. Then when I set up my business, I always had Diamond in the back of my mind as an opportunity. I decided to revisit Diamond’s Network Partnership in 2022, as I identified the partnership as an opportunity to tap into the express delivery sector which would give us access to same day, next day and international delivery and really use the previous experience we have within my organisation.
Do you support any charities or community organisations on your service area?
I’m an ambassador for the Toy Appeal, it’s a local charity. We give toys to underprivileged children and run different events at Christmas, Easter etc. We sponsor events in the summer to keep children active and occupied during the school holidays. It gives support to the families that can’t afford to make Christmas as special as it should be for children.
My business is also the training kit sponsor for a local youth football team and I am also a member of the coaching team.
What are your goals for 2023?
My goal is to continue to build my business and continue to support my team. Diamond gives us an opportunity to really grow the organisation whilst delivering customer promises and providing great opportunities for our people.
