In 2022 Gemma Faye Bell, owner of The Candy Garage, started her business selling pick ‘n’ mix, freeze-dried sweets and American candy.
Initially focusing on the local market, The Candy Garage soon started accepting orders from across the UK, thanks largely to a strong social media presence.
As orders grew, Gemma struggled to manage packing and deliveries on her own, which is when she turned to Diamond Logistics for support.
We asked Gemma to give us some insights into her journey with us.
What’s the story behind The Candy Garage?
It was from a random idea. I watched a video about a similar business online and thought ‘I can do that. Let’s just set up my own company!’
Two and a half years later, here I am!
I had to research my products, buy from wholesalers, find out what customers would like, and find my own customers. It took a while to get going, but luckily, I had such a good following locally that it helped to push my videos out there.
We’re now not just local anymore – we ship all over the UK including Wales, Scotland, Essex, Surrey – all over.
How has the business evolved?
We now stock over 100 different options of pick ‘n’ mix sweets. We started with about probably 30 options, but as the business has grown, we now stock more.
As the business started to get busier, more orders were coming through. I used to do it all myself. I was picking and packing the orders, and then doing all the deliveries on my own.
However, it got to a point where I was struggling to pick and pack the orders and get the deliveries done.
How did Diamond Logistics help you?
Bob from Diamond Logistics was my knight in shining armour. He messaged me and the rest is history. He has taken such a massive stress off of me and has freed up my time so I can focus more on my business.
The system books orders from the website through Diamond, they then come to the house daily, collect any deliveries and ship them out within 48 hours.
We’re now up to 100 orders a week – it’s kind of gone a little bit crazy, but crazy good!
What’s next for The Candy Garage?
We’re always looking at stocking new products and keeping up with the trends. Freeze-drying is a massive trend at the moment, and we are also looking to grow the website www.thecandygarage.com
