We’re pleased to announce that Paul Carvell joined our board as Chairman of diamond logistics.
Paul has over forty years’ experience in the transport, logistics and business service sectors. Paul is Chairman of The Delivery Group and Non-Executive Chairman of PPS Equipment, a BGF Investment. Previous positions include CEO at Business Post plc (now UK Mail / DHL), which he took into the FTSE 250, and MD and senior VP roles with TNT, GE Capital and Christian Salvesen. He is a Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen.
Commenting on the appointment, Kate Lester, CEO of diamond logistics, says: “As we scale our business, Paul’s invaluable experience and insight is keeping us focused on the objectives of adding another 60+ sites in the next 5 years; and building the businesses of both our clients and franchise on our one-stop logistics platform, despatchlab. His knowledge of the industry, combined with his integrity and reputation, aligns very strongly with our purpose and values. We are pretty alternative compared to the other businesses that he’s been involved with in the past, but hopefully the cultural shift will be embraced and we can enjoy the diversity he will bring to our board.”
Paul added: “I’m delighted that diamond have invited me to take a permanent position on the board. They are unique in the sector – an experienced yet fun, family feel business. There is an energy in the board that is akin to a start-up, along with some of the best technology I’ve seen and 27 years’ experience. It’s a truly one-off and exciting opportunity’.
Paul’s recent successes include taking The Delivery Group from £32 million revenue in 2011 to £250 million in 2017, chairing a major depot consolidation, overseeing an operational automation programme and significant software developments to further improve the customer experience, and being part of the recent management buyout team.
