How do next-day, overnight and international delivery services work from a customer’s perspective?
Each Diamond Logistics customer has access to Despatchlab, where they can enter the details of their shipment. Despatchlab then selects the most appropriate carrier for that particular item.
Diamond Logistics collects the goods directly from the customer using a local vehicle. The shipments are brought back to the local service centre, where they are consolidated with other consignments.
This consolidation creates economies of scale and strengthens our position when negotiating with carriers. Each carrier visits the service centre daily to collect the goods assigned to its network.
The shipments are then transported to the carrier’s central sortation hub. Once sorted, they are sent to the relevant local delivery depot, scanned onto a delivery vehicle and delivered to their final destination.
The basic process is the same whether the shipment is travelling within the UK or internationally. Several people and systems may handle the goods during the consolidation journey, but this shared network significantly reduces the cost of delivery.
Diamond Logistics works with a range of carriers, allowing us to deliver throughout the UK and worldwide. We provide both import and export services across the globe.
Whether you need to send a small parcel, pallet or container, we can identify a suitable option. With more than 4,000 overnight and international services available, there is a delivery solution for almost every consignment and destination.
