Video – Will my delivery be insured when transported Overnight or Internationally?

Learn how carrier liability works for overnight and international deliveries, when enhanced cover may be available and why additional goods-in-transit insurance may be appropriate.

Transcript

Many customers ask about insurance for next-day, overnight and international consignments. Most carriers provide a standard level of liability cover for each shipment, generally up to a maximum amount calculated according to the weight of the item.

European shipments are subject to different liability rules, which can make the level of cover more complex. Further information about the applicable carrier terms and conditions is available on our website.

Many carriers also allow customers to enhance the standard level of liability. For example, where the standard cover is calculated at £10 per kilogram, it may be possible to increase the total cover to £5,000 or £10,000 by paying an additional charge.

Customers can therefore rely on the carrier’s standard liability, purchase enhanced liability cover where available, or arrange their own insurance.

Some customers choose separate goods-in-transit insurance, particularly for expensive consignments. This can provide additional protection where there is a significant difference between the carrier’s standard liability and the actual value of the goods.

Carrier liability and insurance can be complex. Review the relevant carrier terms and conditions on our website, or contact your local Diamond Logistics service centre for help understanding the options available for your shipment.
